I've been meaning to sign up for a Trial Pledge for a while now--since your last post about this, actually--and this post prompted me to finally pull the trigger. I've committed to 10 percent for a year, and we'll see how it goes. Whether that merits a comped sub I leave to your judgement ;)
I'd already mentally committed to giving 10% for some years now, but your promises of a free subscription pushed me to get around to actually publicly taking the pledge. Is this enough?
I would do this, but some 20 years ago, my wife and I made the decision to spend most of our disposable income on cat rescue. We currently have more cats in our house than I care to mention. In retrospect, this may not have been the optimal strategy to help animals, given the fact that cats are carnivores and saving them might be a net negative. But it is what it is.

Children are dying of easily preventable causes and we can make a material difference to that with a trivial proportion of our income.
