Yes, that is probably true. Still the almost 80 years without nuclear war are so incredible that UFOs, “we live in a simulation”, anthropics and God’s will are relatively sensible arguments.
The problem with viewing it through the lens of the anthropic principle is that nuclear war, while it would kill a lot of people, wouldn't wipe out the human species. Depending on the specific scenario, probably wouldn't even be half the population.
