No, it's not just convenient. 1+1 really does equal 2. We don't just pretend it does for convenience reasons, it really, really does.

Okay, there are lots of things that can be said to crazy skeptics, but if atheists can explain moral facts more easily than physical facts, that's a win for the atheist.
Forget 1+1 for a moment. Take something that requires assuming the axiom of choice to prove. Is that math American truth really “true”? There’s no way to prove the axiom of choice… so is it not?
We can of course, apply the same thing to the much less controversial, but still requires axioms used to arrive at 1+1 = 2
