Skimming through some less wrong posts FDT seems to just be evidential decision theory but worse in every possible respect.

The best analogy I can give for the average individual to this discuss will be a case of handling birth defects. A battle between a purely eugenics approach to a more human one. Might also apply to “my body my choice”. Humans tend to be quite rational far more but once in those circumstances, being irrational or going against the previous predetermined action set can be quite surprising. Hence why people find themselves acting out choices they’ve condemned previously, as it’s easy to be an observer. A choice becomes like the sword of Damocles hanging over you.
