There's no "mystical aura" of animal consciousness that needs to be appreciated on an individual and relational level, there is only the cold hard fact that animals exhibit a certain quantity of measurable conscious behavior, and killing an animal decreases the net amount of consciousness (where "consciousness" is somewhat arbitrarily labeled as "good"), right?
