I guess the problem with this is that you can't tell who would have gotten an abortion otherwise, so you would have an oversupply of adoption babies, especially with black, disabled, or otherwise low skill/low future income, who are already oversupplied. I think a somewhat better system would make the price more market related. So my modest proposal would be to keep abortion legal, but create a market for children, or more precisely, a market for adoption rights. The price would depend on market mechanisms, and I think the incentives are better aligned here.
