Where I Agree With The World's Most Controversial Philosopher
In defense of the most thoughtful edgelord
1 Introduction
Lots of people have unthinking establishment positions. They simply adhere to whichever sets of views is popular with their ingroup—rarely thinking very much about which views are correct. Others, however, are more willing to think outside the box and adopt heterodox positions. These people, even when they’re wrong, tend to be interesting, especially when their views run contrary to common sense.
There is a philosopher so controversial that he makes Peter Singer look like a moderate. He was temporarily ousted from academia because his outrageous views generated such a tremendous firestorm. His paper titles are enough to get a person cancelled—you could not assert them in polite society. Despite this, however, I find myself often—though not always—in agreement with him. His name is…
