We Should Obviously Genetically Engineer People to be Smarter
Being smart is good actually, and making people worse off is bad!
Suppose someone offered you the following deal: you’d get 1,000,000 dollars, but you’d lose 20 IQ points. Would you take the deal? I don’t think I would. Now, maybe this is because I’m a jerk, perhaps I really ought to take this deal so I could donate the money. But this isn’t so obvious—if I were dumber, it would be harder to earn money to donate. Most people seem to share my preference.
