1 The outrageous abortion claim that made me a pariah
This might be one of my most controversial articles ever. I’m going to tell you about one of the more outrageous arguments I made in my life as well as certain other things I believe that people have found outrageous. The outrageous argument upset various people and caused some people to claim that I was sexist, and morally deficient in various other ways. Yet despite this, no one had a reason it was wrong.
It happened in high school when I was talking about abortion. I think abortion is generally fine, but most of what people say about abortion is dumb. I was listening to the standard drivel about abortion being a topic that one could only opine on if they have a uterus (or are a trans woman, for some reason???) I thought this was absurd for the standard reason—as I explained, there’s nothing wrong with people talking about topics that don’t affect them directly. If it were the case that there was a mass murder of babies—as pro-lifers believe—then it would make sense to talk about that, just as it’s perfectly legitimate to express concern about sexual assault against women, even if one is a man.
Now, if this was all I said, I wouldn’t have gotten into trouble. The point is so obvious and often made that few people object to it. But I made another substantially more outrageous point, one that was not appreciated by the liberal high-school girls I was talking to (sorry non paid subscribers—I figure that if you’re willing to pay me 7 dollars a month, then you’ll like me enough not to use my outrageous confession to smear me in future years. I know it’s annoying to paywall juicy things leaving other people to wonder, but one is insulated from cancellation if the only people who read their controversial things are people who like them enough to pay them 7 dollars).
