There are some concepts that shut down critical thought. Rather than assessing the merits of some proposal or argument, people simply pattern match it to an error, and ignore its plausibility. To give one example that I’ve given before, people use the phrase “moral blackmail” to avoid having to think through a serious moral argument.
I think people do this regarding the term eugenics.
