A brief note: I’m going to be putting more of my articles behind a paywall because I intend to make some money over the course of the next several months, perhaps in place of getting a summer job. So, if you want to incentivize me to write more instead of working at, say, fast food, I’d encourage you to get a paid subscription (see also the argument I’ve made here about writing being a public good and thus being underproduced). This is about the cost of a cup of coffee every month, and I write more than most people you might get a paid subscription to! Alternatively, if you hate my writing or think nothing would improve it more than a job at Starbucks, then don’t!
With the exception of Yarvin, these are all people that I like, at least to some significant degree. Chomsky has the best case for various hard-left views on foreign policy topics of anyone, his case always meticulously footnoted. Yudkowsky is great at explaining complex topics and is rightly concerned about AI (though he’s absurdly overconfident about many things, including AI, and is often egregiously wrong). As for Yarvin, well, he’s at least fun to read sometimes even if his articles are to serious scholarship what pornography is to film.
