Dear Readers,
A while ago, I published an article defending modal realism. While I intended the article to merely argue for a philosophical position, I realized that, given the falsity of modal realism—based on induction—modal realism is false, and worse, dangerous. I sincerely apologize to all who have been hurt by my false and offensive claims, and I am listening to various marginalized voices who have spoken up about how belief in modal realism affects them personally.
When writing the article, I failed to appreciate how vulnerable people would be negatively affected by my writings. I failed to speak with any people of color before publishing my modal realism article. For this I am sorry. I promise to do better in the future.
This incident taught me that I have a lot to learn and make up for. Hopefully, this is a small part of that reconciliation process. In particular, I shall now vet all of my articles about modal realism by sending them to 38 people who are totally representative of the general population, so as to hear a diverse range of perspectives. We at Bentham’s bulldog are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Once again, let me state from the bottom of my heart that this does not represent who I am or what I stand for. I am committed to doing better.
Sincerely,
Me
Look at this guy, clearly only apologizing because he got caught.
