A Very Disturbing Moral Argument

There is a moral argument that I find disturbing. If true—or even if plausible—it would have very radical implications. Lots of common-sense moral conclusions would be inverted. The world would be different and alien. And the view is frighteningly plausible. It’s frightening not because it would be bad news (it would actually be great news) but because it would turn much moral reasoning on its head.

Sometimes, one comes across a philosophical argument with a disturbing conclusion and shrug it off. I do this with this argument to some degree. Maybe I’m not so rational after all.
